About the Journal

Aims and Scope

The Brazilian Journal of Medical Physics (RBFM) is a scientific journal published by the Brazilian Association of Medical Physics (ABFM).

The RBFM publishes original scientific research articles, technical communications and review articles in the field of Medical Physics, which include the areas of Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology, Radiological Protection and Radiation Dosimetry, diagnosis and therapy modalities with ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, as well as Teaching and Instrumentation in Medical Physics. RBFM also publishes reviews of theses and dissertations in the area of Medical Physics.

Sections

Original Article: Articles in areas or topics related to Medical Physics, which describe methods and results of original research that have not been published yet. Original articles must have at least 4 (four) pages and a maximum of 10 (ten) pages. A specific model for articles in the form of an Original Article is available at this link.

Technical Communication: Articles that constitute a way of disseminating solutions to problems of design, maintenance, experimental techniques and informatics applied to Medical Physics. Technical communications must have at least 2 (two) pages and a maximum of 4 (four) pages. A specific model for articles in the form of Technical Communication is available at this link.

Review Article: Articles in areas or topics related to the RBFM specialty, within a critical perspective, regarding a specific non-original theme, with a didactic approach or professional updating. The submission of a review article must be made following an invitation from the editorial board, or preceded by consultation and evaluation by the editors. Review articles must carry out a state-of-the-art analysis of the topic addressed inside and outside the country. Review articles must have at least 5 (five) pages and a maximum of 10 (ten) pages. Thesis or Dissertation Review: The abstracts of master's dissertations and doctoral theses defended and approved in postgraduate programs for a maximum of five years, and their respective abstracts may be published in RBFM for the purpose of dissemination to the Medical Physics community. Only abstracts related to the areas of interest of the RBFM will be published, according to the preliminary evaluation of the editorial commission. Peer Review Process

The review policy assumes that original articles, technical communications and review articles go through at least two anonymous, "ad hoc" reviewers. An Associate Editor will assist in the review process, verifying the adequacy of the submitted work, according to the criteria established by the Journal and compliance with the established deadlines. The concepts and opinions expressed in the articles are the sole responsibility of their authors. In case of a tie, an Editor will be responsible for issuing a final opinion recommending or not the publication.

The receipt of the work will be promptly confirmed through electronic communication. From then on, all information will be transmitted in this way. Manuscripts that do not meet the standards will be returned to the author(s).

When an article is submitted to RBFM, the authors confirm that the text, or part of it, has not been published or accepted for publication in any other journal. The article can only be sent to another journal after a final decision by the RBFM. After acceptance for publication, the copyright(s) belong(s) to the Brazilian Association of Medical Physics, with no cost for submission or publication (APCs). The total or partial reproduction of the articles is allowed, if the source is mentioned and with the express permission of RBFM.

Free Access Policy

RBFM is an open access journal, which means that all content is available free of charge and at no cost to the users or their institution. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or author. Authors are free to file in personal institutional repositories only the final version of the published article (diadorim blue category).

The Brazilian Journal of Medical Physics - Rev Bras Fis Med (ISSN 1984 9001 - electronic version; ISSN 2176-8978 - printed version) - is a publication promoted by the Brazilian Association of Medical Physics (ABFM).

Created in 2005, it aims to publish original works in the areas of Radiotherapy, Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology, Radiological Protection and Radiation Dosimetry, including related modalities of diagnosis and therapy with ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, in addition to Teaching and Instrumentation in Medical Physics.
