Optmizacion de Dosis Pediatricas Medicina NuclearAbstract
Nuclear medicine studies are being used regularly as a diagnostic method. It is important to optimize radiation dose, due to biological effects of radiation in this population. The aim of this work is to optimize the administered doses and modify the acquisition protocols of DMSA renal scans in pediatric population, maintaining quality diagnosis in the final image. This research is observational and descriptive. We recruited 111 pediatric patients (31 were analyzed for this preliminary report). We reviewed and analyzed qualitatively the renal scintigraphies with Tc99mDMSA from this patients, extracting reconstructions of 100% 60% and 30% of initial images. Mean initial dose was 76.7MBq Tc99mDMSA in the whole population and 37, 43.7, 76.3 y121.6MBq in the groups of 0-1. 2-5, 5-10 and 10 to 15 years. After evaluate reconstructed images, we proposed a dose reduction of 40% of the initial dose, maintaining the quality of image and reaching a similar dose to the EANM Dosage Card recommendation. We concluded that it might be possible to reduce 40% of the basal dose without compromising the clinical diagnosis in this population.
