Interproximal radiography, known as bitewing X-ray, is an intraoral dental radiography technique that obtains images of the crowns of premolar and molar teeth. This technique is divided into 4 parts to be able to observe all posterior teeth on the right and left sides in the same exam. The objective of this work was to determine the distribution of absorbed dose in a complete interproximal radiography examination, using the Monte Carlo method to calculate the conversion coefficients for absorbed dose (CC[D]). The parotid glands received the highest absorbed dose with a total CC[D] of 1,62E-1 (0,7%). The tissues that received the lowest doses were the eye lenses and the thyroid gland, as they are further away from the primary beam during the examination. Due to the radiosensitivity of the salivary glands, it is important to pay attention to the optimization of the exam since their recurrent exposure to ionizing radiation can lead to a modification of the salivary composition and a decrease in the amount of saliva secreted.
